About me (but mostly about you)

Hi, I’m Aquita.

Teacher, not guru. I spent 25 years teaching 5th grade, built my online business in the margins, and now I’m in your corner while you build yours.

Introvert who can talk to kids all day. Hot cocoa person. Host of family game night. Pull up a chair, because this page is really about you.

Questions you’d ask me over hot cocoa

The not-so-frequently asked questions

Wait. A 5th-grade teacher? Why should I listen to you?

Fair. I taught for 25 years. I started as a math teacher, until my teaching partner Sherry and I had to split subjects. We were both math people, so we settled it like grown women: rock, paper, scissors. She won. I got Language and Literature, and ended up loving it.

About 10 years ago I couldn’t find a good YouTube video on how to find the theme of a story, so I made my own, with Cinderella, just for my students. It has passed 900,000 views and it’s still on page one.

That’s when I learned the thing I teach now: know your audience.

Teacher habit: I make things simple. My free Escape Hatch is a 2-page plan that finds your real hours and your first step. About 10 minutes.

Where did all the helping come from?

My dad was in the U.S. military, so from about 8 to 13 I grew up on bases across Germany. We could hop in the car and be in Austria. I fell hard for schnitzel.

I was tall young and started slouching, so my mom, working full time, started a whole charm school for me: funding, about 60 girls, place settings and the model walk. I helped her set up every time. At graduation I got “most helpful.”

Pretty sure the helper heart and the love of a good system started right there.

Did you just quit one day?

Nope. Not willy-nilly. I built my online income on the side for a couple of years while still teaching full time. By 2026 it was almost matching my salary, and my district was restructuring in ways that would have wrecked my balance. So I made the leap, on purpose.

When I told my daughter, one of her first questions was, “Can you pick me up? Can I do carpool?” Eureka, yes.

Then came Athena’s 4th-grade open house, in the same district I’d taught in for 25 years. If I still taught, I’d have been in my own building that night. That’s what the margins are FOR.

Building yours in the margins too? That’s what the CTC membership is for. We build it together, every week: live calls, coworking and people who get it.

Why do you always wear black?

During the pandemic I was drowning, teaching kids in person and online at the same time. I had to take decisions off my plate, so I picked one easy one. Black. Quick, easy, slenderizing. I never stopped.

Same idea runs my business now. My AI Engine takes the busywork off my plate, and I stay in charge of every decision. Want your own? Meet the AI Engine.

Do you ever think, “Is this going to work?”

Oh, yes. I still get those moments. My parents poured it into me that I could do anything, and I’ve just gotten good at powering through. You need something pushing you out of your comfort zone and something pulling you in. Both.

The little true things

A few things about me

Tenzi dice, hot cocoa and tacos on a game-night table
Game night, the important stuff

☕

Hot cocoa, not coffee

With French vanilla creamer. Sparkling water runs a close second.

🌮

Peace, love, and tacos

LOTS of tacos. That is how I sign every email.

🎲

Tenzi at our house

The fast dice game. Everyone who plays it at our house loves it.

🍖

Korean BBQ is worth it

Even if I come home smelling like smoked meat and have to wash my afro. Do not care.

🥲

Four crock pots

I host the big holidays now. A few crock pots and two air fryers, and we’ve got a whole meal.

🥰

Introvert, for real

I can talk to kids all day. Adults, I had to grow into. Good teaching is good teaching.

What I believe

How I do business

  1. Know your audience.Who they are, what keeps them up at night, what they love. It’s the most important skill in online business.

  2. Plan the leap.Don’t leave a job willy-nilly, and don’t wait until you’re desperate. That’s when the sloppy moves happen.

  3. Find people who get it.Online business can be lonely. Find a community that understands what you do.

  4. Celebrate people every chance you get. When my first challenge launched, my coaching group threw confetti and my husband toasted me with sparkling grape juice. I want everyone to feel that.

  5. Feel your feelings, then go.Hard things are “not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.” Prepare, feel them, keep going.
